Astigmatism Contact Lenses

Astigmatism contact lenses are designed to correct astigmatism, which is an irregular curvature of the cornea or lens of the eye that causes blurred or distorted vision1. These lenses, also known as toric lenses, have different powers in different meridians of the lens to help the light focus properly on the retina, providing clearer vision1. They are available in three common types: rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP), toric contacts, and hybrid contacts2. Toric contacts are soft and designed to rotate back into place, providing comfort and clear vision2. RGP lenses, while less comfortable initially, provide the sharpest vision2. Hybrid lenses combine the features of toric and RGP lenses, offering both clarity and comfort2.
